| Science Kits
The Main Library offers
science kits for both teachers and parents covering the following topics:
- Plants
- Sound
- Weather
- Measurement
- Heart &
Circulatory System
The teacher kits offer
educators a comprehensive selection of materials needed for an in-depth
exploration of a particular science subject. They are intended to support,
not supplant, the existing curriculum. Ultimately, it is hoped the
students will gain a better understanding of science concepts in a fun and
interactive way, as well as to see the relevance of science in their daily
lives and its value in problem solving. Teachers in the Brockton schools,
both public and private, are eligible to borrow a kit.
The parent kits are
smaller home versions on the same themes. This is an excellent way of
motivating students to continue their explorations at home.
Each kit contains some
combination of the following: books, videos, cassettes, pamphlets,
educational games/puzzles, posters, science tools and suggested
activities.
Bookings and pickup are
handled through the Children's Room at the Main Library.
