Here is the Criteria for selection of Brockton Youth Poet Laureate.
Submit for Youth Poet Laureate. March 1 – 31 2023
The responsibilities of the Poet Laureate may include, but not be limited to, providing public poetry readings, encouraging poetry appreciation within the city, and composing and publishing poems, creating programs that raise awareness of the diversity of Brockton.
Brockton Resident
Age - 15 - 20
Candidate submissions.
[1] original poem about Brockton from the candidate’s perspective, personal experience, history, diversity or culture growing up in Brockton.
[2] original poems on any subject.
A brief statement detailing community involvement as it relates to volunteer and community service.
Clubs, and after school activities.
A list of poetry awards and publications. If applicable.
Submissions will be evaluated on the following weighted criteria:
Original poem about Brockton 40%
Community involvement 30%
Two original poems on any subject 20%
Awards and publications 10%

The top two candidates for Youth Laureate selected by the judges will present their poetry and vision for Brockton Poet Laureate to a public reading, before the Judges, the event will be open to the public.
The judges will review the submitted material and will make the final selection to be announced.
